About

Yoga is not about how you look, it’s about how it makes you feel. I became a Yoga teacher to create a safe community for anyone to come along to enjoy and learn Yoga. I create classes suitable for any age, size, shape and gender, with variations and alternative postures for you to use as you feel.  Whether you are tired and need some restorative Yoga to aid a great night’s sleep, a powerful vinyasa to relieve stress and tension or a gentle Yin class to let the body release and let go , I’m here to help.

My goal and vision is to bring Yoga and mindfulness to the heart of Northumberland; helping those of all levels to find a state of calm and evoke the relaxation response. In our busy lives we forget to look after our mind, body and spirit. In these classes a sacred space is created for all to grow mentally, physically and spiritually. I chose a butterfly to be part of my business logo, as butterflies go through a huge transformation in their life, we can do the same and become much better versions of ourselves.

My Yoga Journey

I began my yoga journey as a teenager, using yoga as a way of warming up and cooling down the body before and after dancing classes and performances at school. I always loved the sun salutations as they were so fluid and opened the entire body. I carried on experimenting with Yoga postures and breathing techniques throughout university and my years at work. However, It wasn’t until 2017 that I found my true identity and took the plunge into teaching Yoga.

Yoga for me was a great escape from work and other things in my life that I felt weren’t right. It made me feel at ease, centred and relaxed. In the summer of 2017 I left my career and travelled to Bali to train as a Yoga teacher. I taught in and around Morpeth in community halls and spaces, until I opened Yoga Den, (the first Yoga studio in Morpeth) in January 2019.

In 2020 I completed my advanced teacher training in Yoga Therapy with a world renowned Yoga Therapist Antonina Ramsay. Yoga therapy looks at the needs of the individual and creates a tailored approach to Yoga.

Since qualifying in summer 2017 I have taught over 2000 hours of private and group Yoga classes, and I continue to love teaching and creating new and exciting classes at Yoga Den.

My intention has always been to bring classes, workshops, courses and retreats to Yogis at an affordable cost- Yoga should not just be for those who have money it should be for everyone.

I can’t wait to be part of your yoga journey.

I’ll see you on the mat!

Namaste,
Christie
